Hands-on science learning for the blind is empowering individuals to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields of study. Independence Science and Vernier Software Technology have collaborated to adapt the first accessible laboratory tool for the blind. Using Voice Access Software, the LabQuest® device announces data collection in real-time, file menu navigation, data tables of collected data, a full periodic table and is durable enough to be used in any field or lab experiment. Import data onto the accessible Logger Pro® software on a computer for statistical analyses of the data and soon to be the ability to print a tactile graph.
